Kristel Wesson

A little about me.

What inspired you to become a Support Coordinator? My desire to assist others stems from knowing that my best efforts emerge while serving people. With my naturally organised and empathetic disposition, this role aligns perfectly with my strengths.

How long have you been working in this space, and what do you enjoy most about it? For the past five years, I’ve been engaged in the disability sector, serving as a Support Coordinator for the last two years. Guiding individuals to live their best lives and reach their goals brings me joy!

What types of support services do you specialise in or have experience with? I am experienced in all facets of the Disability sector and NDIS Support Coordination including complex cases.

Can you tell me about a particularly rewarding or memorable experience you’ve had while assisting someone? When my recent client approached me, they lacked direction regarding their plan funding and enhancing their life. As their support coordinator, I’ve witnessed a positive transformation in their life. Daily, they express the significant impact I’ve had on them, and that’s the most rewarding aspect of my job—knowing I’ve made a positive difference in someone’s life.

Are there any resources or programs you find Interesting and beneficial for a lot of your participants? I hold the belief that everyone contributes significantly to our community, emphasising the value of forming social connections. I take pleasure in tailoring programs to match my clients’ interests and witnessing their increasing enjoyment and zest for life.

What do you believe are the most important qualities for a Support Coordinator to have? Empathy, understanding and determination to get the help the client requires.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Any hobbies or interests you’d like to share? I am an avid music lover so I attend as many concerts and festivals as I can with friends.

Tell us something we don’t know, but need to know? I believe that the world would be a much better place if more people made an effort to display kindness and empathy
