Clarity Golding
A little about me.
What inspired you to become a Support Coordinator?
I have always been passionate about helping people feel empowered, encouraging them to take control of their own lives and build the confidence to achieve their goals.
Throughout my previous work in the domestic violence sector, I had the privilege of supporting individuals through some of the most challenging times in their lives. Walking alongside participants on their journeys and witnessing them achieve things they once believed were out of reach was incredibly rewarding. Those experiences inspired me to continue working within the community after moving to Australia from the UK and ultimately led me to pursue a career in Support Coordination.
How long have you been working in this space, and what do you enjoy most about it?
I have recently taken the next step in my career by moving into the Support Coordination space.
What I enjoy most about this role is the opportunity to empower individuals to take control of their supports and work towards goals they may have once thought were out of reach. Being part of that journey and seeing people grow in confidence and independence is incredibly rewarding.
What types of support services do you specialise in or have experience with?
I have a background in psychology and two years of experience working within the domestic violence sector, supporting individuals to safely navigate and overcome experiences of abuse.
In this role, I supported people to regain control of their lives, rebuild confidence, work towards greater independence, and access the services they needed to achieve lasting safety and wellbeing.
I also have experience working with children with complex needs within school settings, supporting their emotional, behavioural, and educational development in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Can you tell me about a particularly rewarding or memorable experience you've had while assisting someone?
I will always remember the first client I supported in my previous role within the domestic violence sector.
From our very first appointment, where they felt isolated and alone, to our final appointment, where they were flourishing and rebuilding their life with confidence, the transformation was remarkable. Being able to witness that growth and resilience firsthand was an incredibly rewarding experience and one that has stayed with me throughout my career.
What do you believe are the most important qualities for a Support Coordinator to have?
I believe the most important qualities for a Support Coordinator are compassion, commitment, and strong organisational skills.
It is important to be approachable, reliable, and genuinely person-centred. These qualities help build trust, create positive working relationships, and ensure participants feel supported, respected, and empowered throughout their journey.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Any hobbies or interests you'd like to share?
Since moving to Australia from the UK, I have spent much of my free time exploring my new surroundings, going for walks, and enjoying the beautiful beaches.
I love discovering new places and make it a goal to try somewhere different each weekend. Exploring local communities and experiencing everything Australia has to offer has been one of my favourite parts of settling into life here.
